📱A Perspective of Influencer Marketing📷

Influencers I follow:

I find myself following influencers that dress, act and have similar values as myself. It is convenient to follow influencers who post content consistently and also promote brands. I find myself discovering new products when following influencers. With the ability to follow and remove anybody, social media is truly customizable to the consumer.

What do you notice about this type of marketing?

This type of marketing involves paying an individual to promote products on their personal social platforms. Usually “influencers” aren’t considered celebrities but have a large enough following to be known of in the digital world. This type of marketing also is known to be more trustworthy than traditional marketing because followers can feel a personal connection to influencers.

What strategies are they employing?

Strategies being employed are product reviews and promoting brands for free product and/or payment in return. Influencers are being paid more than the average salary to promote products to their audience. Usually, the products they promote align with their lifestyle and personal brand, making it more believable they actually use the products. Another strategy being used is “influencer trips”. A popular brand trip is “Tarte” where they fly out a group of influencers to a destination and then the entire trip is based around promoting Tarte. The brand will supply the group with tons of free products and then they are required to create content with it. This idea of these trips is to create content and also create conversation about the brand online, whether that be positive or negative.

What role do these influencers play in marketing?

Influencers now play a huge role in marketing. Brands found their target audiences are now on social media, not watching tv. Influencers now allow brands are reach a wider audience through their personal followers and creating trustworthiness.

How does the use of marketing perspective impact the relationship between the company and consumer?

Consumers and company relations could be impacted by influencers because now the influencer is the face of the brand. While this can be a positive thing, this could also leave some consumers wondering if the influencer is being sincere since it is a paid partnership. Paid partnerships are legally required to be openly disclosed.
